Council planning rules have left Brick Lane traders no option but to close at midnight, and to stop taking orders at 11pm, or be left with a £20,000 fine.
Planning officers and police delivered leaflets door to door to all the Brick Lane businesses notifying them to adhere to the law.
A council spokesperson said they wanted to reduce anti-social behaviour in Brick Lane and businesses that stayed open “beyond their approved opening hours” would receive enforcement notices.
Some business owners feel it will destroy local business.
